Dr. Gavin Forsyth

Dr. Forsyth grew up in Vancouver and attended UBC Dental School where he graduated in 2000.

Prior to his dental career, he was active in competitive alpine skiing, and he represented Canada internationally as a member of the Canadian National Alpine Ski Team. In his final year of competition, Gavin represented Great Britain which gave him the opportunity to compete at the 1992 Winter Olympic Games in Albertville, France.

Following his ski career and dental school, Dr. Forsyth immediately went into general dental practice. He first practiced with his father, Dr. Iain Forsyth in North Burnaby, but now maintains a full time practice with Dr. John More at 2 Road and Blundell in Richmond, British Columbia.

Dr. Forsyth enjoys the technical aspects of dentistry, and particularly he relishes in building relationships and becoming a part of his patient’s extended families. He also believes his professional license gives him an opportunity to learn new dental skills, and Dr. Forsyth is committed to a career of continuing education.

He has been an active member in the Vancouver Academy of Osseointegration with Dr. Ira Sy, he was the founding member of Richard V. Tucker Gold Study Club #50 with Dr. R.J. Clarke, an 8 year member of Kaizen 2 Interdisciplinary Study Club with Dr. Bud Sipko, a 5 year member of the Greater Vancouver Endodontic Study Club with Dr. Bradley Mar, and a 4 year member of the Vancouver Periodontal and Prosthodontal Study Club with Dr. Jim Grisdale. Recently he has been attending the Kois Center in Seattle to further his skills in comprehensive dental care.

Gavin enjoys spending his spare time with his wife and two daughters, and really enjoys riding and occasionally racing his bicycle. Gavin has been very active in his bicycle club, and was the race director of the BC Time Trial Championships for a number of years.

Dr. John More

Dr. More immigrated to Canada, where he completed a residency at Vancouver General Hospital, and after a short associateship in Vancouver, he opened his first practice in 100 Mile House, BC in 1971.

He relocated to Richmond in 1980, where he continues to enjoy all aspects of dentistry, particularly collaborating with Dr. Forsyth. In his spare time, Dr. More enjoys golfing and curling. Dr. More has three grown children, and an ever increasing number of grandchildren.

Dr. Anna Pranata

Dr. Anna Pranata grew up in Winnipeg, Manitoba where she attended the University of Manitoba Dental School. She graduated in 2010 and worked for two years before moving to BC with her husband and two dogs. She now enjoys taking her dogs to the beach, biking, jogging, and snowboarding in BC’s milder climate.

During dental school Dr. Pranata participated in her first dental mission to Guatemala. Since then, she has been involved in two other dental missions to Guatemala and hopes to continue her involvement. Helping people is an important part of dentistry for her. In Vancouver she enjoys educating and empowering her patients to meet their oral health goals. She loves improving her skills and continuing her dental education by being active member of the Vancouver Study Club.

Dr. Pranata loves getting to know people and strives to provide excellent dental care with patience and gentleness. She welcomes any new patients to the office.

At Peace Arch Dental Office our entire team is dedicated to providing you with excellent, personalized care and service to make your visits as comfortable and pleasant as possible.

 

Dr. Michael R. Layton

Dr. Michael Layton spent his growing up years in the Surrey/White Rock area. He graduated with honours from North Surrey Secondary school. After spending two years in Romania conducting humanitarian service as an LDS missionary, he received a Bachelor of Science degree in neuroscience from Brigham Young University in Provo, UT in 2003.

He then went on to receive a Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree from the University Of Washington School Of Dentistry in Seattle, WA. While in school he received numerous awards for clinical excellence, conducted two research projects and presented posters at two International Association of Dental Research (IADR) conferences. His second project on Oral Health in Romania, took first place in the American Association of Public Health Dentistry pre-doctoral dental student merit award for outstanding achievement in dental public health.  He was chosen as the student representative to the government affairs committee of the Washington State Dental Association and served as a dental student intern to Congressman Rick Larsen (D-WA) in Washington DC.Michael has been practicing in the South Surrey/White Rock area since 2007.

Since graduation, he completed a two year post graduate training program in the field of orthodontics and continues to stay current by attending hundreds of hours of continuing education courses each year. Michael also regularly volunteers at the Peace Arch hospital dental clinic to care for the underprivileged in our community.

When not involved in dentistry, Michael, his wife, Emma, and their daughter, Adelaide, enjoy frequenting White Rock beach, hiking through Campbell River Valley park, going swimming and visiting grandpa and grandma.  He is involved with Scouts Canada and has been a volunteer basketball coach for the YMCA Steve Nash league. He also enjoys playing sports, especially basketball and golf, as well as skiing and camping.

Dr. Michael Pauls

He graduated from S.F.U. with his B Sc. degree and then went on to study dentistry in both Chicago and Winnipeg, Manitoba. These schools had some of the finest facilities and faculties on the continent. His hard work resulted in receiving numerous awards during every year of his dental education. These awards were in a full range of disciplines.
Dr Pauls continues to take many courses by renowned World Dental leaders to further his skills in all aspects of dentistry. He is a member of many professional organizations, including Dental Study Clubs and Dental Societies to keep current with the latest technology and techniques. Dr Pauls has lectured at Study Clubs and enjoys teaching & mentoring others about different topics in dentistry. For years, he also authored a dental column in a local magazine.

Mike enjoys the variety of challenges that come with being a General Dentist. Every day is unique. He finds that it is a lot of fun to be able to work with children all the way through to seniors.

Dr Pauls used to play a variety of sports while growing up and attended SFU on a fullscholarship to play football. He was drafted by the Edmonton Eskimos back in 1986
and still has a passion for the sport. When he is not creating beautiful smiles, he has been coaching many different kids’ sports in the Kerrisdale area for over a decade. Over
the past few years, he has been fortunate to have coached 5 Provincial Championship winning football teams, gone to two National Championships representing BC and won
two prestigious “Orange Helmet Awards” for coaching excellence from the BC Lions.

Dr Pauls has been married since 1989. He and his wife Sheila, have three terrific kids who are all active in their schools and communities too.
