Who We Are

Ahmad Al-Ashi BSc DMD
General Dentist

Dr. Al-Ashi obtained his dental degree from Université de Montréal. After working in Montreal, Dr. Al-Ashi decided to move to Edmonton, Alberta where he worked in a group practice as an associate for some years. After gaining valuable experience, he decided to join the North Central Dental team to establish stronger roots here in Alberta.

Dr. Al-Ashi is a CEREC (crown in one visit) certified provider since 2005, and in 2006 obtained a certification in invisalign. He is a certified medical acupuncturist who treats orofacial pain and various TMJ issues.

Dr. Al-Ashi believes that part of offering great care to his patients is achieving a pleasant patient experience, one that is not confined only to the dental chair, but extends from the first greeting to the last.

Brian Hoyano BSc DDS
General Dentist

Dr. Brian graduated from the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry at the University of Alberta in 1999. Rather than practicing in the big city after school, he decided to have an adventure! For two years, he travelled the north providing dental care in Yellowknife and the surrounding communities of the Northwest Territories. The experience made him appreciate all aspects of dentistry, and the importance of friends and community.

In 1999, Dr. Brian returned to Edmonton to join his father Dr. Ken Hoyano and partners at North Central Dental. Here he has found another welcoming community of professionals and patients, where he has provided care since.

Dr. Brian enjoys hockey, golf and family. As a dad of two daughters and a coach, he spends much of his time outside the office volunteering his time on and off the ice with Edmonton Ringette.

Dr. Brian aims to provide optimal dental care to maximize each patient’s oral health and overall well-being. He wants to help his patients to be educated and informed, so they can make decisions on what is best for them. Dr. Brian always strives to help our patients feel comfortable and have a pleasant dental experience.

Greg Tailleur BSc DDS
General Dentist

Dr. Tailleur has been creating oneof- a-kind smiles for adults and children for over 25 years. Dr. Tailleur was born in Edmonton and has been serving Alberta communities as a general dentist since 1988. He received his Dentistry degree from the University of Alberta at Edmonton in 1988. A graduate of the Canadian Straightwire and Functional Orthodontics program, he is also an Invisalign Certified Provider and has trained at LVI in neuromuscular orthodontics. In addition, Dr. Tailleur provides treatment in TMJ and sleep apnea.

Dr. Tailleur is a member of the International Association for Orthodontics, which provides him with continuing education opportunities through orthodontic courses and seminars. He is also an active member of the Canadian Dental Association and the Alberta Dental Association.

In his spare time, Dr. Tailleur enjoys camping, skiing and boating with his wife and their three girls. His hobbies also include tennis, music, and wood working. Dr. Tailleur’s practice philosophy is to treat his patients as he would have his own family be treated. He is committed to providing the best dental care possible, and strives to help his patients achieve the beautiful, healthy smile they’ve always wanted.

Coltene/Whaledent Inc.

Coltene/Whaledent Inc.

Who We Are

A world-wide successful dental specialist

COLTENE is a global leader in dental consumables and small equipment covering the whole dental treatment process. Dentists and dental labs worldwide rely on the company’s products for implant-based therapies and dental reconstructions, as well as traditional therapies.

COLTENE is a Swiss public company traded on the SIX Swiss Stock Exchange under the symbol CLTN.

COLTENE has been the leading developer and manufacturer of high-precision impression materials and innovative, aesthetically-pleasing filling materials since the mid-sixties. In 1990, the Swiss Coltène AG joined forces with the American company Whaledent Inc., a producer of technical dental consumables established in 1956 in New York. Since then, the combined Coltène/Whaledent brand has brought polymer chemistry-based impression and filling materials, a broad range of high-precision mechanical instruments, dental pins and posts, carbide and diamond burs and other rotary instruments, as well as a comprehensive offering in the area of hygiene and patient safety, to international markets through sales partners.

COLTENE has state-of-the-art production facilities in Switzerland, the United States, Germany and Hungary.

Technical centers of competence for manufacturing
COLTENE products, combining essential core technologies, continuing innovation, and fine design, are manufactured at three centers of competence: Cuyahoga Falls (Ohio, USA), Langenau (Germany) and Altstätten (Switzerland). The polymer/chemistry products and consumables are concentrated in Switzerland, while the mechanical/technical products and dental instruments are mainly manufactured in the United States. Rotary instruments, such as burs and grinders, are produced on both sides of the Atlantic Ocean.

The American company Coltène/Whaledent Inc. (Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio) specializes in root canal points, self-threading parapulpal pins, products for model-making in the dental lab, orthodontic instruments (Dentronix), patient safety/hygiene products (Hygenic), and small table-top equipment.

In 2002, COLTENE acquired the German company ROEKO and completed its polymer/chemistry product range of impression and filling materials with high-quality wadding products, highly-absorbent and resilient paper, and gutta percha points to effectively remove fluids and moisture during the preparation process of a root canal, as well as other consumables.

With the acquisition of Cutting Edge Instruments (Bridgewater Corners, Vermont) in 2007, COLTENE expanded its range of diamond rotary instruments manufactured in Switzerland with carbide burs.
